Description

The Challenge Trail covers about a half mile of trail. The natural path is a little more primitive and is steeper than the Lower Trail (if you hike it from the lake back upward). It is very well maintained by the City Parks and Recreation Department. Along the Challenge Trail, you'll find a nice waterfall dedicated to the memory of Burton C. Barnes by his family and friends.

Starting from the upper parking lot next to the white access road gate, jump on the trail on the right side of the road where you see the small boulder with the Burton C. Barnes memorial plaque.

The trail takes you from the upper parking long along the outer primitive area of the park down to the Lake Loop Trail at the wildflower meadow.
