Description
The Whittington Trail is a gravel trail that meanders through a landscaped park that allows you to escape from the noise and tourism of Hot Springs. The park and trail were created in the 1800s and was used in the 1930s as a scene for summer concerts and community activities. Today, it is a popular with joggers, walkers, and dog walkers.
There are several parking areas that provide access to the trail that circles the park. You can park next to the Mountain Top Trailhead and then cross the street to access the park and trail. The nice thing about the trail is the there are several bridges that cross a small creek that allow you to vary the length of your hike, depending on how much time you have available. Magnolia trees are found throughout the park and benches are scattered throughout the park which allows you to sit, relax, and listen to the water run along the creek. If you are looking for a nice morning or evening stroll to start or end your day, this is the perfect trail.
Flora & Fauna
Magnolia trees, maples (sugar & red), sycamore, dogwood, sweet gum, and non native species can be found throughout the park.
