Need to Know

Parking is free in the gravel lot. There are a couple of Porta Johns in the parking lot, but no water. Bring plenty!

Description

Built in the early 2000's as a MTB trail, The Pig is an easy to moderate hike that meanders around a children's home. Not much elevation gain but enough to keep it interesting. Unlike the buffed machine built urban trails in the Atlanta area, this is a handbuilt narrow trail with enough roots, ruts, and scree to keep you paying attention.

The trail is marked with 3 foot high brown forest service type wands with green, blue, or black arrows and numbered markers. It can be difficult to know which way to go at crossings. But you can't really get lost as the singletrack crosses a couple of old farm roads that all lead back to civilization.

Flora & Fauna

Some managed pine forest but plenty of nice mixed growth hardwoods with wildflowers and deer and foxes and beautiful bird song.
