Need to Know
Parking at the Glen Alps trailhead requires a $5 per day fee or an Alaska State Park pass.
Description
At 4660', Homicide Peak is #96 of the 120 Chugach State Park Peaks as listed on Peakbagger.com. This route is typically accessed via the
Powerline Pass Trail from either the Glen Alps trailhead or the Indian Creek Valley trailhead.
From the pass, take the south leg of the Powerline Pass saddle up towards South Powerline Peak. About halfway up the slope, there is a nice game trail that takes you to the saddle between South Powerline Peak and the false summit of Homicide. Follow the ridgeline south up the false peak and carefully descend down to the final approach. The descent that I chose was a pretty exposed scramble, but perhaps there is a better way down. The final ascent to the peak is more scrambling, but it is much easier to find a line with less exposure.
This route is rated extremely difficult due to the exposed scrambling and the lengthy approach.
