Need to Know
There are so many trails branching off in this area. I was surprised that we hadn't heard of the area before. Good place to go wander!
Description
Google maps led us straight to the trailhead, but it was hard to spot. There is only one space for a vehicle right off the side road, with a medium sized boulder to mark the trail. The trailhead did need to be cleaned up a bit, but it was the only spot on the trail with any trash. When you set out the singletrack pretty quickly merges into an old ravine/four-wheeler trail. It looks like you might lose the trail here, but the trail veers to the left pretty quickly and it was easy to pick up the singletrack again.
At about two miles, the trail crosses a power line cut and continues alongside a Jeep-road. We followed this out a bit, it seems like the trail merges with a wider, blazed trail. We decided to hike the blazed trail back (it had multiple blaze types and mile posts). It started leading us farther south than we were ready for, so we cut back up to the original singletrack by following a Jeep road.
Flora & Fauna
Very typical of the region—lots of long needle lines with the occasional oak.
