Description
After the initial climb through woods, the trail is fairly easy traverse of the western slope of the Lauterbrunnen valley with nice views of the Jungfrau, Monch and Eiger. Cable cars and bus are available on both ends.
From Lauterbrunnen, the initial climb through woods is fairly steep. The trail passes several streams and eventually levels off, becoming an easy traverse of the western slope of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Mürren and Gimmelwald, both nice, gentrified/touristy mountain villages, have opportunities for refreshments. The trail around them is on a rolled gravel road. The views of Jungfrau, Monch, and Eiger across the valley are very nice, with several waterfalls visible on the impressive rock wall. The descent from Gimmelwald to the valley floor is steep, so you may want to save your knees and take the lift down.
Cable cars and bus are available on both ends, and at Mürren as well (up to Schilthorn of James Bond fame, or down) - check the schedules!
