Family Friendly 1.5 mile loop trail with a parking area at the trailhead. First 0.5 miles before reaching the loop section of the trail is ADA and stroller accessible. Loop has one narrow part and 2 creek crossings.

Overview

1.5 mile loop trail through the woods with two small bridge crossings, along with two spots where you'll have to hop across Jackson Creek. The first half mile is flat and wide, but the loop section is a tad bit more rugged. Would recommend for an easy/intermediate trail—just wear your boots if it's after a recent rainfall for crossing the creekbeds.

Need to Know

There is a large parking area at the trailhead next to Yellowwood Lake. Jackson Creek Trail shares a trailhead with Yellowwood Lake Trail and a section of the Tecumseh Trail. The first half mile of this trail is flat and wide, making it ADA accessible.

Description

The first half mile of the trail is a very flat and wide section, making it ADA accessible. After the first half mile section begins the loop section of the trail, where trail indicators will tell you which direction to go. Two bridge crossings in the trail loop, one being a well-built bridge over the creek. You'll traverse a variety of terrains and forest types, some short uphill sections, and one very narrow hillside section shortly after the first bridge crossing.

There were two sections of the trail where you'll cross Jackson Creek. The creek beds are supposedly dry enough most of the year, however even in the spring, the water is shallow enough that a quick hop, skip, or a jump will you get you past it without getting too wet. Nothing some good shoes can't handle.

Flora & Fauna

This trail takes you through a variety of habitat types, including marsh, pine forests and central hardwood forest. Check out the Jackson Creek Trail brochure for a description of the trees and sites to be identified on the trail.
