There is a permit quota on this trail (June 15th-October 15th)
Permits can be purchased on Recreation.gov for $1/person. There is a $5 fee for parking at Green Lakes Trailhead. Passes such as the Interagency Pass can be used for parking.

The trail starts on the east side of the parking lot. The first 2 miles are relatively flat and lead you across open pine forest. You cross one of the tributaries to Soda Creek at 1.6 miles shortly before passing a wide meadow on your right. The ascent starts beyond the meadow through denser forest. You get closer to Soda Creek and a good view of the creek and a smaller waterfall at about 2.7 miles. The trail then turns sharp left and zigzags up the slope. The forest opens up as you get closer to the treeline. Todd Lake Trail #34 joins on the right at 4.1 miles. Cayuse Crater is now prominently ahead of you. The trail reaches Broken Top Trail #10 at 5.1 miles.
