Overview
Take the easiest most direct route to the base of the knoll so there'll be more time to enjoy it. Climb up. Ooh and aah, explore, take pictures, have a snack, climb down, and return to the chalet. You did it!
Need to Know
The fully serviced chalet is open during ski season and snowshoe trail passes are required for use of winter trails. There is no fee for off season trail use, but donations are appreciated.
Description
From the chalet turn left briefly onto B1, then follow the connecting trail across
Jackrabbit Loop to the start of C1. Turn left towards OMG Bridge. At the base of OMG Hill on
Games Trail, cross over to D1 on the other side. There is some climbing up the side of a hill to cross
Games Trail again, then D1 continues as a roller coaster trail to about the C3 turnoff and then levels briefly across
Rabbit Run/
Games Trail connector.
Just beyond and up from the storage shed by the ski trail, turn onto
Snowshoe Trail D3. The incline is moderate with a few steep bits right to the intersection of D6.
Snowshoe Trail D6 becomes steep but not dangerously so as there are trees to grasp along the way. Pass the intersection with D7, continue climbing up and past the intersection with E3, climb a little farther, then reach the summit. That wasn't so hard.
The trail back down is quite relaxing.
Snowshoe Trail D6 crosses
Games Trail and merges with D1. Do the second lap of D1 in reverse for a quick return to the chalet. This is the shortest route to take in D6 and the knoll.
Flora & Fauna
Encounter six or more unique habitats along the way, each with a different assemblage of plants. For more information, visit
