Need to Know

The park is free to the public with nearby picnic areas and is within 5 miles of restaurants and lodging. There is also a historic lodge that is open seven days a week from February 1 to December 1, and serves family style chicken dinners, as well as other food and beverages. There are 35 cabins for lodging as well.

Description

This is a nice, casual trail, with very little variation of elevation throughout the trail. Part of the trail follows a scenic bluff line, and several viewing areas are available. Handicap parking is available, and benches can be found throughout this trail for any person who may have mobility concerns, but who still would like to enjoy a nice nature hike.

Flora & Fauna

Giant City State Park is home to a good variety of wildlife. Owls, raccoons, skunks, opossums, squirrels, chipmunks and deer, to name a few. Sightings will depend on season and time of day. Various snakes may be spotted during warmer months, although they are generally bashful and normally avoid people. Red Cedar, hickory, oak as well as other hardwood trees can also be seen.
