Description

Slaughter Slough provides a short hike through a piece of southwestern Minnesota prairie. The trail takes you over hills that overlook a wetland frequented by birds and migratory fowl.

The trail leads to a monument marking a spot where one particularly bloody event of the Dakota Uprising of 1862 took place, shaping southern Minnesota history. It is worth the stop especially if you are interested in Minnesota history as well as viewing native prairie.

Flora & Fauna

Many Minnesota native prairie plants and flowers can be viewed on this trail.
