Description

This is a short, pleasant, low-altitude loop through a mixed oak-madrone-pine forest. The trail is largely under the shady canopy, making it a good choice for a warm day. Going in either direction, the trail makes a gradual ascent to more level, rolling country as it winds around Point 2711.

The best viewpoint for the Red Buttes (high points in the Red Buttes Wilderness to the south) is along the right branch of the loop. There is a more limited view of the Red Buttes from where the trail passes across the south side of Point 2711. There are no potable water sources along this trail.
