Description

The Sidecut Trail follows the high ground bordering Bogus Brook between Sidecut Road and the Metro-North rail line. Trails are not permitted across functioning railroads; thus, this trail dead-ends at the tracks. What a coincidence! Just across the tracks is the southern loop of the Bogus Trail in Bogus Brook Preserve.

The 20 mile Ives Trail begins here as well.

Best to avoid this section in early summer due to Japanese Barberry growing out of control along both sides of the trail. A preferred deer tick habitat. Check yourself diligently if you come through here in humid months. Decent to hike in late winter though, connecting to Bogus Trail - South Loop and Top Rock Trail.
