Need to Know
The Wilderness Rider Buffalo Ranch and Adventure Park is a locally owned shared use park, which is primarily for ATVs, but also open to hiking. The cost to enter for hiking only is $10. The owners live on-site and a waiver must be signed to use the trails.
Note that parts of this loop are closed along the eastern most portion of the trail, depending on conditions. Check with the proprietors before you head out.
Description
After signing in at the main entrance, find the gate marked #1 which leads to a large field, where the buffalo sometimes congregate. Pass gate #2 and begin descending down into the hollow. The trail can be muddy due to the passage of ATVs, however, traffic is limited in low season (winter).
Follow the red blazes to find Johnny B Falls, which can be impressive after a good rainfall. Continue onwards to find Upper Panther Falls, which has a nice pool underneath the falls to relax by. Continue further to reach campsites, and a swimming hole. Hiking sticks or trekking poles are advised since some sections of trail may be rather steep and muddy.
