Need to Know

Toilet facilities at the parking lot only. No water anywhere other than the river—ok for dogs but not humans.

Description

The trail is an out and back from a small parking area at Emily's Pond that is open year round. Great views year round of the Snake River and the Teton Mountain range. Fall colors are wonderful in late September and early October. Winter access is groomed for nordic skiers.

The path is open to walkers, skate skiers, fat bikes, and even horses. Everyone seems to get along and the road is wide enough to share with other users. This is one of a few trails in Teton County open to dogs—so if you don't like dogs, probably not your best option. Most of the furry fellows are off-leash. Dog owners are generally good about picking up after their dogs.

There is virtually no elevation gain along the entire length of the road. The only toilet facilities are pit toilets at the parking lot. The pathway can also be accessed from the west side of the river via a pedestrian bridge, but parking in the winter is only available on the west side in the Stilson Lot off Highway 22.

Flora & Fauna

Moose are often seen in the winter. There is a bald eagle nest about a mile from the parking lot. Swans and other water birds love the river year round. Fishing off the pathway is popular in the warmer summer months.
