Description

Horse Canyon Road branches off Wolverine Loop Road and follows Horse Canyon for more than 12 miles. The road is very sandy and crosses the wash numerous times. The beginning of the road can be missed very easily; it starts where Wolverine Loop Road leaves the Horse Canyon wash.

The mouth of the canyon is fairly wide with cottonwood trees on either side. After about 1 mile, the road makes a sharp left turn south and enters a very open area with numerous small contributing washes. At 6 miles, the canyon starts to narrow and becomes very winding.

The next 3 miles are the most interesting with amazing sandstone formations on both sides. After 9 miles, the canyon widens again. You reach the confluence with Wolverine Creek at 11.2 miles. The sand road ends abruptly after 12.7 miles at an old abandoned cabin. A faint narrow trail continues further down Horse Canyon from there.
