This trail is not regularly maintained, so expect lots of blow-down and some route-finding. It is blazed.

Rim Trail is not maintained, which means you'll encounter more downed trees and branches, and the actual trail can be very faint in areas. However, it has been blazed a few times throughout its history and many of these blazes remain: there are plain metal diamonds nailed to trees and older, cooler wooden diamonds that seem to each be uniquely carved. Expect to spend extra diligence on route-finding than you would on better-kept trails.

To get to this trail you'll need to: hike Trapper Creek Trail #192 to the clearly signed intersection on the western end of this trail; take Sunshine Trail from Observation Trail (relatively moderate); or take Sunshine Trail from Trapper Creek Trail #192, in which case you should expect an extremely steep climb.

Rim Trail is mapped from Sunshine Trail. This intersection is signed with old wooden plaques. The trail meanders towards Observation Peak before crossing a potentially dry creek and turning to the southwest. Soon you'll come to a number of viewpoints where the rocky rim exposes views towards the south and east.

After a few viewpoints, the trail will turn to the northwest. As you approach a swampy area, keep an eye out for where the trail zigzags towards the west. After another short distance through lovely, open forest, you'll come to an obvious intersection with Trapper Creek Trail #192 where this trail ends. Almost no one uses this trail, so wildlife viewing opportunities should be good.
