Description
The trail begins at the CCC Recreation Hall with plenty of parking. You'll make a quick horseshoe around the lodge and then wander down the shoreline of Lake Brownwood. The trail is mainly hard-packed soil, but there are many rocks and roots along the way that can provide various tripping hazards, so be mindful of your step.
The trail passes by several old unique rock CCC features, such as benches, tables, and fire pits that were built after the close of World War II. Your hike will take you through partially forested areas, but offers plenty of great views along the way. As you near the end, the trail turns fairly sandy and opens up with very few trees. Your journey ends down a short staircase back to the parking area. Overall, a nice hike that provides great views and easy access, especially if you are staying in one of the park's many cabins.
