Need to Know

This trail is extremely steep, and I would advise knowing the ground condition and area before trying this trail.

Description

Take the Knyazhevo to Belata Voda trail when leaving from the tram, around 1 km from the beginning as you see a brief crest in the trail and a bridge across the river, follow the trail exiting right. It will run parallel to a development fence before making two brief road crossings.

After the second crossing, the trail pitches up significantly; in the next 1.2 km, you'll climb over 450m, passing two of the lift pylons. A hundred or so meters below the first summit, you'll see two metal tubes going up the slope. Follow them up the rock field then head left before hitting the final slope.

You can either go up the gully on the left or continue further left for a bit of class 4 climbing. From that top, you have a short 200 meter section to get to the top left station. Continue following the trail all the way to Kopitoto Tower and the parking lot.

This trail is known as being the morning workout for Bulgarian mountaineer Boyan Petrov who disappeared on May 5, 2018 on Shishapangma. Throughout the trail, you'll find quotes from Boyan posted on different trees.
