This area is known to be hot. Proper hydration and heat management, if exposed to the sun, are required.
Description
Start your hike on the south side of the area and park in the free parking lot. Begin your hike in a clockwise direction; as you go you'll be slowly gaining elevation. It is a steady climb for the first 5-6 miles. This lengthy uphill will challenge even the best hikers, but it's doable.
Once you pass a rusty box, turn left on the main dirt road, then right, and you'll end up on a regular streets for local houses. Follow the map or use the
Hiking Project mobile app to find your way. The road will start to wind and continue to climb. This climb is one of the steeper sections of the loop so pace yourself.
Make a final right turn off the streets back on the trail to begin your descent. From here, it is a long and mostly gradual downhill back to the trailhead where you started.
Flora & Fauna
