Description

The trail runs for a total of about 9.0 miles between Lake Jacksboro and Fort Richardson State Historic Site. The trail is mostly flat and is well-maintained, making this an easy hike for beginners, or for a more advanced hiker who is looking for a quick getaway from Dallas/Fort Worth. The trailhead is about 90 minutes from Fort Worth.

The fall colors can be quite beautiful here, with abundant wildflowers when in season. Watch your step however, as rattlesnakes do live in this area.

Flora & Fauna

Wide, mostly flat trail. A small elevation change just south of the airport. Good trail especially for new hikers. Lots of horse crap on the trail… 6mi — 2h 00m

Trail was very dry (despite recent heavy rainfall in the area), and well-maintained. A rattlesnake was spotted along the trail, so be careful. 5.3mi — 2h 01m
