The 4x4 road in is no joke.

Need to Know

Warning: The road up to the trailhead is incredibly difficult to drive, even in a pickup. The road is super rocky and uneven, with big holes, mud, and water, and it's very narrow in places. You'll NEED 4x4 and high clearance to make it. It's certainly doable, but know that you're getting into quite the adventure just driving to the trailhead.

Description

The trail is generally easy with a few ascents and rocks. It ends at a beautiful lake below Homestake Peak, and is an excellent spot to backpack, explore, and fish.
