Overview

This trail is easy to access right off of the road in Taylor Canyon. Easy wayfinding and gradual uphill. This trail connects with multiple other trails in the Fossil Creek Wilderness, making for excellent backpacking loops.

Description

Begin at the Summerville Trailhead in upper Taylor Canyon. Hike south through the mostly lodgepole forest. After about two miles, it begins to get a little steeper and leaves Summerville Creek. The trail then climbs, seemingly endlessly for 8 miles to timberline where you can gain the unnamed pass, connect with the Fossil Ridge Trail, or scramble up one of the broad summits along the Fossil Ridge.

Flora & Fauna

Deer, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, and raptors. Mixed dry forest leading to timberline.
