Start at Lake Evelyn TRHD. The road to the trailhead is a narrow 4x4 road. I would suggest a truck or suv to get up there.

Start up a doubletrack road for a bit and cross over a river. Continue up a wide trail for about a mile. The trail will turn from doubletrack to single and will start winding its way up the mountain side near the creek. As you get closer to the lake, the the forest will get denser again and then open up. Above the lake, the trail is very steep and rocky as it climbs up onto the alpine ridge.
