Description
This is a fairly easy trail from Silver Campground to Fir Campground and back to Silver Campground. The trailhead is about 100 meters farther up the road from the parking (toward Silver Campground) on the right side. There are five free parking spots outside the Silver Campground overflow area near RV dumping station (also works for Little Apache Trail Parking). Parking anywhere else in the campground area requires payment.
The trail can be used in either direction, and is marked both directions by blue diamonds nailed to the trees. Most of the trail is singletrack dirt, but some appears to be on rocky former road or rail bed. The trail is lightly trafficked, but is fairly close to the road, so there is a lot of road noise.
Flora & Fauna
Deer, squirrels, elk, possibly bears. Lots of wildflowers, aspen trees (gorgeous in the fall), all kinds of native evergreen trees.
