Description
The Flatwoods Trail makes its way through open woodlands along the Maumelle River. The trail surface has been mulched to help keep vegetation at a minimum and raise the surface of the trail during wet periods. Views of the Little Maumelle River allow for bird-watching opportunities. Access the trail at the Y in the gravel access road. The trail ends at the
Pinnacle Mountain Viewpoint and Picnic Area Loop.
Flora & Fauna
Trees indicative of a mixed riparian/flatwoods forest are common, as well as wetland grasses and fungi. Wildflowers are also present during the summer and along the edges of the forest.
