Family Friendly
This popular trail offers the whole family views close to Marquette.
Description
At the large but sometimes overfilled parking area for Sugarloaf Mountain you're presented with two trail options: "Difficult" and "Easy Trail". This is the "Easy Trail" option. It begins flat and somewhat parallel to the road along a wide and smooth trail. Eventually you'll encounter wooden stairs and some wooden boardwalk sections that make would-be-rocky areas easy to cross. The trail flattens out again through a shady canyon between large rocks. A few benches allow you to rest along the way. You'll come to an intersection with the "Difficult" trail and a small spur. Head north up a sequence of wooden stairs to reach the summit. At the top there are three wooden platforms built for enjoying the excellent views and a monument to "Bart" the founder of Boy Scout Troop 1 and a casualty of WWI.
