Need to Know

This trail is also used by mountain bikes. Watch out for bikes going in either direction.

Description

The Spencer Gap Trail is accessible from the Blue Ridge Parkway Beaver Dam Overlook parking area. From the parking area, take a short hike to the Trace Ridge Trail Connector. Proceed down the connector to a three-way trail intersection and turn left at the intersection to access the Spencer Gap Trail. The trail follows the contour of the hill for about one mile and then descends to Forest Service road Wash Creek #606. At Wash Creek #606, you can return as an out-and-back, or proceed in either direction to connect to other trails in the area.

Flora & Fauna

Large deciduous trees line most of the trail. Fall colors about from late September to mid October..
