This is a great 5.5km/ 2.7mi hike through the Muritiba Municipal Park in Lencois Brazil to see some of the local highlights, including the Gameleira well, the Serrano Natural Pools, the Salon of Colorful Sands (Salão de Areias Coloridas), and the viewpoint of Lençóis (mirante de Lençóis), Paradise Well, Spring Waterfall (poco de primavera), and the Halley Well.

Rain will make the river bed very slippery. There will be local guides literally hanging out under rocks where you least expect it offering you tours that cover the same distance as we did—there is no need to do this with a guide.

The track starts at the local bus station (Rodoviaria). From the bus station, hike down the street away from the bridge that leads into the city town. At the "academia da saude" go up the rocks, follow the path, and at 0.5 km turn right on the t-junction keep right.

On your left, you'll see the Serrano Natural Pools. Keep following the path until at 1.2km you reach the Salon of Colorful Sands. Explore the different paths through and under the rocks. Get back on the path (Serano Pools Trail), then cross the river onto Poco Paraiso Trail and hike up to the viewpoint past the small waterfall (at 2km) to the top. You'll descend via the Spring Waterfall.

As you head back, take the River Connector to the Riverbed Trail past the Halley Well. Here, it is possible to continue all the way down via the riverbed, but the better option is to get back on the Serano Pools Trail to head back through the forest next to the river bed.
