Need to Know
As of 2017, the route is being diverted off the heavily trafficked N-550 highway. This map leads you the old way, down the blacktop path on the west/southbound side of the road. Keep a careful eye out for new waymarkings south of A Barciela. If you do have to take the N-550, stick to the path and be VERY careful if you have to cross the highway, especially after dark.
Description
Less forest and more farmland than on previous days of the hike, but still lovely. Keep an eye out for wild boar along the trail, and more chestnuts than you ever thought you'd see in your lifetime. After Sigueiro, most of the remaining hike on stages 4 and 5 is urban.
As you enter Sigueiro, look for the small monument to Margery Kempe, an English pilgrim (and famous...um...character) who walked this route in 1417.
Sigueiro has the highest density of food and beds and is a good place to stop for the night. Pushing on about 4 km to A Lamiera will shorten stage 5 considerably, great if you want to get to the cathedral or pilgrims' office before noon.
