Stage 2 of the English Route of the Way of St. James begins with a steep ascent out of Pontedeume. From the south end of the bridge and the traffic circle, cross the plaza and follow the narrow pedestrian Rua Real or Rua Santiago uphill to Calle de Mancebo.

Turn right on Mancebo, then left where Mancebo dead ends at Rua Pescadaria. You'll see a set of steps that will lead you up to the parish church. Cross the churchyard and take another set of steps up to the Rua da Fonte Nova. That will lead you out of the city.

Stage 2 is significantly hillier than Stage 1, mostly on paved country lanes through farmland and forest.
