Description

This trail will lead you across 54 bridge to the Lewis and Clark Plaza.

The Lewis and Clark Trailhead Plaza was dedicated in June 2008. Located on the Missouri State Capitol grounds, the monument is on the corner of Capitol Avenue and Jefferson Street. The trailhead plaza will serve as a center for future connections to the Jefferson City Greenway System and Katy Trail State Park.

The Plaza is also home to the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery heroic size monument. Sculpted by Sabra Tull Meyer, the five figure monument represents a lasting tribute commemorating the journey of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark through Missouri. The monument sits among large limestone bluff walls, waterfalls, landscaping and interpretive signage..
