Bring water. Wear sturdy and comfortable shoes. If sunny, bring a hat or sunscreen. Shut and latch any cow gates once through to ensure cattle stay inside premises.

Description

The trail first starts on an easy graveled road along the south side of the Ogallala Lake until it reaches stairs near the dam. For the first third of the trail, you are hiking in shaded trees until you reach a quick incline. After this elevation change, you'll have the rest of the trail to hike in the flat, open prairie while viewing the flora and fauna.

Flora: Spiderwort, Yucca, Barrel Cactus, Downy Brome, Smooth Brome, Prickly Pear Cactus, Eastern redcedar
Fauna: Prairie Rabbits, Barn Owls, Morning glory, American Goldfinch, Cedar Waxwing, Redtail Hawk
