Description
Apart from being a fantastic trail in and of itself,
Davis Creek Loop serves as the back-bone for a very large network of trails, all leading to
Bountiful Peak. Along this loop, there are many spurs that go to the peak. I've done them all, and can tell you that in all cases, the trail pretty much disappears, leaving you to tap into your route-finding skills. Note that this is a great place to snow-shoe in the winter time.
Find the pull-out on the west side of Little Valley Road. You'll hike from here up the road a short distance to find the start of the trail on the east side. Note that, unfortunately, parking in the pull-out at the start of the trail is no longer permitted.
Following the loop in a clock-wise direction, you'll first encounter the Indian bath-tubs (if you take a short detour), Christmas Tree Lane (a narrow corridor walled in on both sides by big and little evergreens), Hell Hole Camp (named by the scouts), Pretty Valley (another charming place to camp), and finally, El Cap Rock (named thus by the locals due to its resemblance to El Capitan.) Before reaching Pretty Valley, you can also take a detour to Prayer Rock. At Hell Hole Camp, you can take a detour to several waterfalls.
