Starting at the Abe Martin Lodge, this trail is relatively flat with only a couple of moderate climbs and descents. It also passes by the amphitheater and Saddle Barn!
After beginning the trail near the Abe Martin Lodge, you'll hike down a few stairs before reaching the beautiful State Park amphitheater. Shortly after, you'll start your descent toward the Saddle Barn. Upon reaching a T in the trail, take a left to continue your hike downward. Another set of stairs and you bottom out at the Saddle Barn, where you can pop over for a closer look at the horses if you like.
Follow the signs across the gravel road, a grassy area, and the paved road before picking the dirt trail back up. Head into the woods again for a slow, steady ascent. The trail will then flatten out a bit before making its descent into the valley. Climb up a flight of stairs and the trail will level out again, offering scenic views of the valley below.
You’ll then cross a wooden bridge over a creek about 1 mile in. Now, it’s time to begin your ascent to the top. During this time,
Trail 3 will intersect with
Trail 2 around the 1.3-mile mark. Keep heading up toward the Lodge, climb a few more stairs, and then you’re done!
A great trail for anyone, especially families,
Trail 3 is easy with plenty of things to check out and discover along the way, including the Abe Martin Lodge, the amphitheater, and the Saddle Barn!
