Need to Know
There are water fountains at both Cold Springs and Delga Trailheads, including a low bowl for dogs. There is also a misting station. The facilities building at Cold Springs belongs to the wakepark, so it is not open right now for trail users. There are trash cans and some shade at both trailheads, but no restrooms, and the trails themselves have very little shade. Bring plenty of water and sunblock!
Description
Cold Springs Trailhead is at the Cowtown Wakepark. The trail is a wide, easy concrete path, so you could hike, bike, skate, or push a stroller with no problems. Parts of the path are on the riverbank so you have pretty views. The Delga Trailhead has a shaded bench and water fountain, and is a short hop from Delga Park.
The Trinity Trails system is over 70 miles of trails connecting multiple neighborhoods and parks, encompassing trailheads, water fountains, low water crossings, kayak launches, equestrian and gravel trail segments.
Flora & Fauna
The Trinity River teems with life! All kinds of birds including great white and blue herons, cattle egrets, scissortail flycatchers, and other songbirds. The river itself hosts freshwater mussels, turtles, fish, and beavers. Wildflowers bloom consistently through from spring to fall, so there are always bees and dragonflies and damselflies.
