Description
This trail is an existing part of the Cross Charlotte Trail (XCLT) that travels through the campus of UNCC. The trail connects to some of the old singletrack on UNCC campus as well as the Fruit Trails that are popular with the BMX and freeride crowd. Once completed, the Cross Charlotte Trail will connect from the South Carolina border all the way to UNCC for a total of around 30 miles.
Toby Creek Greenway begins at the Northeast corner of Rocky River Road and Rockland Drive. The greenway runs through a wooded area along Toby Creek for approximately 0.9 miles and then crosses Chancellor Park Drive and goes under East W.T. Harris Boulevard. The greenway runs alongside University City Boulevard for a short distance and then crosses the road via crosswalk. For the next 2 miles, the greenway heads back into a wooded area along Toby Creek and then goes along the Western side of the University of North Carolina Charlotte Campus and past the Irwin Belk Track Complex, Halton Wagner Tennis Complex, and Robert & Mariam Hayes Stadium. Toby Creek Greenway ends where it connects with
Mallard Creek Greenway.
Parking is available at Town Center Plaza, 8548 University City Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28213. From this entrance, users can choose to go north on Toby Creek Greenway for 1.6 miles or south for 1.3 miles.
