Description
Fragas do Eume Natural Park is one of the most gorgeous parks in Galicia. The waters of the Eume River are crystal clear, and have salmon runs throughout the year. There are footbridges that take you across the river that provide excellent views.
The majority of the trail is flat, with much of the real incline coming towards the end on the way up the hill to the monastery.
Arriving at the monastery provides even more great views of the area. Once there, you may tour the 10th century monastery or stop for a drink/snack in the cafeteria next door.
Depending on the time of year, you may be able to catch a shuttle back to the parking lot/entrance to the park. Otherwise, it is an easy hike back to the trailhead as the trail is a gentle descent on the return.
Flora & Fauna
Salmon run through this river throughout the year.
