This trail is the best way (alone, or combined with Oliver's Lament) to get from the vicinity of the Mennonite Church on Union Blvd to Palmer Park to the south. It starts off to the west of the church from the paved trail that parallels Union Blvd, and the first section is through a low-lying section of wetland meadow which can become choked with wildflowers and reeds in spring that are well above a hiker's head - sometimes forming a tunnel of wildflowers to hike through at the right time of year.

After emerging from the wildflower area, there's a short hill to climb over before descending into a wide open meadow that's often filled with deer and wildflowers throughout the summer. Just south of the meadow, the trail branches left and uphill (right is Lower Union Meadows Trail) into a forested section with some narrow rocky sections and some ups and downs before descending out of the forest and into a dry sandy section that leads to the bridge across the wash and back onto paved city trails which connect into Palmer Park to the southeast.
