Description
Step off the Seceda lift (which connects from Ortisei) and you're at the 5.7 mile mark in this track. The Geisler and Stevia mountains lie directly in front of you behind a large open bowl.
Head left to explore the knife edge of the Geisler ridge. There is a little side trail (
Seceda Summit) that takes you right to the edge. The
Seceda Summit trail returns you to this trail a little further down. Following this trail along the ridge takes you right to the edge a second time, but this time the trail descends steeply over the edge. The trail is extremely steep down the ridge, and sure footing is essential to avoid a mishap. This trail ends at the rifugio Brogles mountain hut where other trails connect.
If you instead head right from the top of the Seceda lift, the trail returns to Ortisei. First it climbs to Monte Pic (2363 m; 7753 ft) where you'll have a 360 view of the surroundings. The path up and down from the summit is very steep and narrow.
From Monte Pic, the trail descends steeply towards
Sankt Jakob Kirche church. At the 3.5 km (2.2 mi) mark there is another viewpoint. There is also a good viewpoint at the
Sankt Jakob Kirche itself.
Once you reach
Sankt Jakob Kirche, the route 6 flattens out considerably for the rest of the descent into Ortisei. The trail ends at
Strada val'Anna which you'll take (left) to complete the descent into Ortisei center. Alternatively you can take
Sankt Jakob Kirche (32) towards val Gardena (Wolkenstein).
