Need to Know

If there's been heavy rain, there are spots along this trail that can be a little hairy.

Description

I hike this trail at least two times per week. It is primarily used for horseback riding and can be a bit overgrown, but it's a great trail. There is a large parking area at Marriottsville Rd. and several spots along River Rd. I park at the skate park in Sykesville and hike the ~1 mile to where the trail starts on this map. There are several creek crossings along the trail. Expect to get your feet wet!

This trail also doesn't get maintained as frequently as other Patapsco trails, so there are some downed trees that may not get attention for a while.

Flora & Fauna

Wildflowers, deer, turtles, snakes, squirrels, raccoons, birds (I saw some bald eagles), etc.
