Description
This trail is a great alternative to
Ocean View Trail. It is more smooth, scenic, and well graded than Ocean View. It is relatively well shaded and runs over a series of bridges that cross a creek for the top mile. Although Wednesday Trail is still rocky, it is probably the most smooth and well-built trail in the Irish Hills Open Space. The bottom mile of the trail opens up into great views of SLO and begins a series of switchbacks that drop down into
Froom Creek Trail.
The trail begins at a three-way intersection with the
Ocean View Trail about 0.25 miles from the Mine Hill summit. There are multiple intersections with
Ocean View Trail and they even have a common section for about 300m. At all intersections with
Ocean View Trail, take a left. All turns are well marked and hard to miss; simply follow signs for the Wednesday Trail.
This trail can be accessed from multiple trailheads in the Irish Hills or Johnson Open Spaces, but the best trailhead to hike the entire length is
Froom Creek Connector via Madonna Road Trailhead.
