Overview
This trail is a fantastic 5 km loop to get the legs going. The trail starts with a moderate climb which is the only one on the route. The roots and rocks are not too technical either! The open forest makes for nice scenery, and the lookout at the midpoint provides a beautiful panoramic view over Georgian Bay.
Description
Start from the parking lot and hike the open road/doubletrack to the hill climb.
Once at the top of the hill, the trail starts on the right side. Follow the trail into the open forest. This section has limited roots and rocks, but is not totally free from technical footing. As you enter any opening in the vegetation, be careful of poison ivy!
The trail enters Georgian Peaks ski club property and provides a fantastic viewpoint over Georgian Bay from a viewing deck.
Return to hiking on the trail through open forest to loop around back to the parking lot. The blue side trail blazes are the ones to follow to get you on the 5 km loop!
Flora & Fauna
Watch for poison ivy.
