Need to Know

Weather here can change quickly, so carry good waterproofs and warm clothes (it rains here regularly, and can be windy). In warm, calm weather there are likely to be problems with midges; they are less of a problem in early spring and late autumn.

Description

This is a Low Route alternative as part of the main Great Glen Way trail. There's a choice near the start of Great Glen Way: Segment 5 - Invermoriston to Drumnadrochit whether to follow the Low Route or High Route. There's a board describing the sights and route for each option, with distance and elevation for each.

Based on the trails before and after this section, I anticipate that the Low Route will include sections of undulating gravel forestry tracks, singletrack, and/or doubletrack paths through the woods. There should be less steep trails on the Low Route.

Note that the Low Route still involves climbing!

The High Route and Low Route rejoin just before the terrific trail down to Invermoriston.
