Overview

Beautiful views of bluffs lead to an awesome creek where hikers can cool off after passing under a series of railroad tracks, followed by a short trek to the lake.

Description

Plotted on May 27th, 2018. The River to River Trail is nice and wide, but has many small sections of mud bog.

Once you hit the 001T, the trail changes to an above average wilderness trail. It was not overgrown, and very well blazed by a group of trail runners. Thank you, if you are reading. The bluff-side views and trail on this 001T trail is incredible and some of the best I have found without the screams of children in the background or a 1.5mi out and back loaded with littering yahoos.

You'll head back into the River to River Trail and then head south a short while. From there, continue under the railroad tracks and down hill to the most wonderful creek that smells like horse manure. Wade in the water where the tunnel under that tracks meets the creek, and you'll thank me later.

It's a very short hike to the lake from there following the R2R. You'll cross over a nice and sunny earthen damn, down to the lake. Then you turn around and go back on the River to River and back up to the trailhead. Remember you didn't take only the R2R in and get confused. There are other trails in the area that lead to Jackson Falls from this section of the R2R, such as the 049, 049A, 049E once you cross the most wonderful creek. Be safe and enjoy. Don't litter, or I will find you.
