Description
This is a beautiful loop with some amazing views. There is plenty of parking at the trailhead.
The trail starts out on a common path. You'll reach a fork at the 0.25-mile mark. We tend to stay to the right at this point (all mile references are based on hiking to the right). Once on the loop, there is a gradual descent.
First Overlook
You'll come to a viewing platform at the 0.52-mile mark. There is a nice bench to rest on and take in the views.
Second Overlook (Shipwreck Coast)
You'll come to another viewing platform at the 0.65-mile mark. There is another nice bench to take in the view. There is also an educational board telling the story of the "City of Boston"; you can see her on a calm water day. There are more then 20 shipwrecks in site of this spot. I will leave it at that. I don't want to ruin it for you!
Beach Stairs
At the 0.91-mile mark, you'll come to a staircase that leads to an amazing beach. I first took this hike back in 2015. I had no idea this was here, and I was amazed when I came upon it. I ended up spending the entire day there that day, with the beach to myself.
The return trip to the trailhead can be challenging. There is a 333 foot ascent from mile 0.91 to mile 1.75. Depending on your fitness level this may be difficult.
Flora & Fauna
Beautiful pines, tons of chipmunks and a few black squirrels. There is poison ivy close to the trail.
