River/Creek
Family Friendly
The Redwood Trail is mostly flat, and the well-kept trail is wide enough for 2-3 people in some places. Kids will enjoy crossing the stream, and perhaps seeing a banana slug! Beware of poison oak!
Need to Know
The trail ends just past the creek crossing (in April, it was an easy cross). Also, beware of poison oak throughout the trail.
Description
This is a lush, shaded trail through the redwood/oak forest (1.5 miles out, 3 miles out and back). The trail parallels a creek for most of the time, giving plenty of opportunities to cross on boulders or downed logs.
It's almost entirely flat, apart from a couple of very short uphill sections. Even on a nice Sunday afternoon, there were only a few other hikers on the trail. It's very peaceful and seems far away from the bustling Napa Valley!
Flora & Fauna
Redwoods and oak trees grow in abundance here.
