Description
This trail begins at the Park Road just west of the visitor center. As with all trails in the area, excellent signage makes way-finding a breeze. After departing the road, the trail quickly makes a small descent and then eventually levels out for the duration of the hike. You hike only a hundred yards or so before you are presented with the option to continue left to the
EB Scripps Overlook, or continue around the loop to your right.
This trail is home to some of the last remaining Torrey pines in existence and as such, all trails should be strictly adhered too. Most trails in this area are lined with cable guidelines to ensure folks stick to the paths. You'll get great views of the pines, as well as the heavily and uniquely eroded sandy cliffs that are prevalent in this area. The trail loops around and ends back near the road. Overall, this is a quick hike deserving of the minimal effort required.
Flora & Fauna
There are plenty of desert flora that, when blooming, create a beautiful blanket on the semi-arid land. Keep your eyes peeled for snakes, lizards, and other desert dwellers that are often seen along the way.
