The section on Maylor Point is sometimes closed.

The trail starts to the left of the parking lot. Follow the paved path past all the playgrounds. After you pass the last playground, you'll come to a Y intersection. Stay left here (you should be hiking towards the boardwalk). Follow the boardwalk until you reach Flintsone Park and the dock. From there, follow the sidewalk all the way around the harbor to the marina.

Once you are at the marina, follow the main road until you reach a gate. This is a Navy project, which means it is sometimes closed. You are also required to stay on the trail. The beach and forests are off limits. Find the white lines on the pavement that lead to a gate. If the gate is open (about 3 feet), proceed. If not, the trail is closed. Unfortunately there is no way to tell if the trail is closed before hand. The good thing is the trail is open 90% of the time. Anyway, follow the path to the point and back.
