You are sharing this trail with horses. Don't spook them.

From the parking lot, just head west past the information booth, and you quickly access the trail.

Going left, you head downhill and after about 0.5 miles you come to Avents Creek. With high water, you'll have to head a little up creek to rock hop across over a pretty waterfall. From here you continue along the stream for a little while until you head into the hills.

After traveling through heavy mixed hardwood and pine forest for a couple of miles, you head back down toward the creek. You meet the creek again at a gravel road. Turn right on the road and after checking out the small waterfall across the road, find the trail on your right.

From here, the trail mirrors the road while it heads back uphill toward the parking lot.
